Envista Holdings Corp. is ending a decade in Brea, with plans to move its headquarters to Irvine by 2028 — a move prompted by the planned demolition and redevelopment of its current home.
The dental products maker, Brea’s most valuable public company with a valuation near $3.8 billion (NYSE: NVST), has signed three separate leases totaling more than 120,000-square feet at Lakeview Business Center, owned by Newport Beach-based Irvine Company, according to CoStar data.
“We’ve loved our time in Brea and are excited to begin our next chapter in Irvine in 2028. Our new headquarters is an investment in our future and in our people, creating a modern environment designed to help employees collaborate, innovate and build rewarding careers.”
-Chief Financial Officer Eric Hammes
The move comes as the 97,000-square-foot building Envista occupies in Brea faces a major transformation.
Its current headquarters is located on part of the 34-acre Beckman Coulter campus, which local developer Dwight Manley purchased for $140 million in January. The campus is slated to be torn down and redeveloped into single-family homes and the first-ever Costco for the area.
Envista was spun out of Danaher Corp., a global conglomerate with segments in life sciences, diagnostics and biotechnology, in 2018 and went public the following year.
Danaher acquired Brea-based laboratory and diagnostic equipment maker Beckman Coulter for approximately $6.8 billion in 2011.
Over the summer, Washington, D.C.-based Danaher closed on its $9.9 billion buyout of Irvine-based Masimo Corp.
One of Biggest Office Deals of the Year
The three leases combined represent the second-largest new office deal in Orange County this year.
The Business Journal was first to report last month on Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill’s lease for a 254,000-square-foot, three-building campus on Alton Parkway in Irvine, which the two restaurant chains plan to relocate to by spring 2028.
Both deals highlight continued demand for large office campuses in Irvine as Orange County’s office market shows gradual signs of stabilizing. CBRE reported vacancy rates slightly increased to 13.3% in the second quarter, while availability fell to 18%, down from the adjusted rate of 19.5% in the first quarter.
Envista Takes Over Former Bollinger Facility
Lakeview Business Center is a 17-building campus located a short walk from the Bass Pro Shops store in the Irvine Spectrum. Amenities include seven outdoor collaboration and event spaces, barbecues and onsite auto detailing services.
Envista’s new headquarters will span three adjacent buildings at 100 Technology Drive and 15360 and 15370 Barranca Parkway, one of which used to be occupied by Brea-based Bollinger Innovations, formerly known as Mullen Automotive.
The struggling electric vehicle maker, which has undergone numerous reverse stock splits and transitioned from the Nasdaq to Over the Counter after its market cap fell below $50,000, opened an EV development center at 100 Technology Drive in 2022.
CoStar data shows that Bollinger moved out of the 31,602-square-feet facility last December, leaving the entire building vacant.
Job Listings Point to 2028 Q1 Move
While Envista has not officially announced the move, job postings for manufacturing and engineering positions say the company will relocate its office from Brea to Irvine in the first quarter of 2028.
Envista in August reported 537 local employees, making it the fourth largest dental company in Orange County by headcount. Companywide, it counts more than 12,000.
Envista owns more than 30 dental brands, including Ormco and Nobel Biocare, that are used in 200 million dental procedures a year, according to its website.
In 2025, Envista reported a revenue increase of 8% to $3 billion.
The company posted second quarter earnings in August with revenue of $731 million, surpassing the $716.3 million expected by analysts. Management also raised sales growth guidance to 3.5% to 4.5%, up from its prior range of 2% to 4%.
“The dental market continued to show its characteristic resilience as patient demand for dental care remained stable despite macro pressure.”
-Chief Executive Paul Keel
Envista continued to invest in product innovation with two new launches within its consumables business during the second quarter.
The ZenSeal Pro is an all-in-one bioceramic endodontic sealer, used to close gaps between filling material and the canal wall in root canal procedures. The other product, the DemiPro, is a lightweight cordless curing light for restorative dental procedures.
Move is another blow to Brea’s office market
BREA — The expected departure of Envista Holdings Corp. to Irvine in 2028 marks another big blow to Brea’s base of office jobs.
The city earlier this year saw developers buy the longtime campus of Beckman Coulter, with plans to replace the five-building campus that at its peak held close to 1,000 positions with a new housing development.
Similarly, the multi-building office campus that held the base for Mercury Insurance, which employed nearly 1,600 pre-pandemic, in 2024 was sold to developer Dwight Manley for $31.5 million with an eye toward residential development. Manley later sold the 9.7-acre site to Hearthstone Inc., a division of Lennar Homes, for $45 million. The Brea City Council approved Lennar Homes’ proposal to redevelop the site into a residential development with 179 attached units.
Envista’s new landlord, the Irvine Co., last year brought another big Brea business to the Spectrum area of the city, when food supplier Young’s Market relocated its base to Spectrum Terrace. Envista currently employs 537 at its Brea base.
