Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani is unlike any other law firm — and their new Downtown San Diego office at 101 W Broadway reflects this.

“Our new workspace is a true reflection of who we are as a firm: forward-looking, adaptable, and people-focused. We couldn’t ask for a better location.”

Ken Perri, Office Managing Partner

“Our workspace demonstrates our firm’s commitment to building an inclusive culture that values camaraderie and connection,” says Dusanka Villegas, Regional Office Administrator & Manager of Operations, who has been with the firm for over 26 years. “Irvine Company helped us achieve this with flexible space solutions in downtown’s most central location. It’s a win for everyone.”

As the only law firm with offices and attorneys in all 50 states, Gordon & Rees delivers maximum value to their clients by combining the resources of a full-service national firm with the local knowledge of a regional firm. They’ve been in Downtown San Diego since 1990, making this their second oldest office and one of their largest.

“Like us, Irvine Company has deep roots in San Diego,” says Kristin Reyna DeHart, who has been in the San Diego office for 22 years and currently serves as the Assistant Office Managing Partner. “We first leased workspace with Irvine Company in 1999 and as our needs changed it’s been easy to scale up or down with them. They’ve been a true partner.”

Gordon & Rees is among the fastest-growing and largest law firms in the country. The firm is currently ranked among the 25 largest law firms in the U.S., the top 25 firms for diverse attorneys, and the top 15 firms for female attorneys in the AmLaw 100.

“We’re down to earth, adaptable and open to new ways of working,” says Kevin Alexander, senior partner who served as Office Managing Partner for 16 years, from 2006-2022, and joined the firm in 1993, as an Associate. “We know our teams can do excellent work outside the office, but we also believe in-person connection is important. That’s why we designed our new office to support hybrid work.”

The firm’s new space puts culture first with flexible spaces for community-building and connection. Dedicated workstations and interior offices are organized by teams, accommodating attorneys and staff who rotate through during the workweek. Employees can choose to work from anywhere, but most come into the office at least three days a week.

“Our San Diego office is like one big family and most of us have been here for at least a decade. We truly care about one another on a very personal level,” says Reyna DeHart. “Going into the pandemic, these close relationships helped us be successful remotely, and now it’s especially rewarding to come together for team events again.”

From the “end-of-the-summer” sunset happy hour at nearby Top Sail to the family-friendly in-house Halloween party, in-person events bring the firm’s culture to life for its newest hires.

Brandon Saxon, who also serves as Assistant Office Managing Partner and joined the firm in 2007, sees the value in being downtown. “The firm and its employees have long enjoyed the amenities that 101 West Broadway offers, including close proximity to the courthouses and a variety of dining options. From a quick lunch with colleagues to a walk to nearby Petco Park to catch a game, our location is a draw for everyone.”

“Our new workspace is a true reflection of who we are as a firm: forward-looking, adaptable, and people-focused. We couldn’t ask for a better location,” says Ken Perri, who joined the firm in 1992 and moved into the Office Managing Partner role in January 2023.
